What a Murphy Bed Should Actually Do

Measure the Ceiling Before Anything Else
A queen mattress is eighty inches long, and the cabinet adds several more. Figure on about seven and a half feet of ceiling for a vertical bed. Central Florida has plenty of rooms under that, which is why this is the first measurement and not the last.
Decide Vertical or Sideways
A vertical bed folds down the long way and needs the height. A sideways bed folds down the wide way, drops the height requirement to about five feet, and takes seven feet of wall instead. Low ceiling, wide wall means sideways, and it changes everything drawn around it.
